History

Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico was founded as part of a major effort of a group of missionaries to end hunger in the Island. It was originally known as Caribbean Food Bank.

In 1996 we were certified as an affiliated agency to America's Second Harvest, the largest domestic hunger relief organization in the United States of America.

In 1999, our corporate name was changed from Caribbean Food Bank to Second Harvest of Puerto Rico, Inc. doing business as Banco de Alimentos de Puerto Rico. (Top)
